Is that jig something that came with the kit or is it something they have you make? I am inclined to think they included it as it's made of beech which is a rare "widget" wood outside of Europe.
Yes, the string marking gauge was supplied with the kit. The instructions with the kit actually recommend stringing the entire instrument first before pinning the nut and then marking the position of the pins using the gauge and the actual strings themselves. I did it that way with my first instrument but find that it is really a lot easier to just use a single weighted thread and do all of the marking, drilling and insertion of the pins without having all of the strings in the way.
